I have been recording and mixing songs for many years in London and Kent and have a wide range of experience; I am always open to new ideas to achieve the best results, and maintain a sympathetic approach to music where the song is paramount.
I have, also, produced voice recordings for radio shows, television adverts and academic seminar presentations; as well as backing music or audio soundtracks for all sorts of applications - see Composition.
Some of my recent clients include:
- Murray Head
- Caravan
- Geoffrey Richardson [Renaud, Penguin Cafe Orchestra]
- Phil Palmer [Dire Straits, Eric Clapton & many others]
- The Lykes of Yew
- Tim Edey [Sharon Shannon Band, Session A9]
- Sonar Nation
There is a large control / mixing room - which is great to work on ideas and have everyone involved when mixing and playing back material. The live room benefits from acoustic treatment and has a warm, natural sound for drums and piano recordings, as well as guitar amps and voice. There is also a small vocal isolation room.
There is a vast range of equipment in the studio; including two old-school quality analogue DDA mixing consoles [32 channel D-series & 16 channel S-series], Yamaha O2R digital desk, top-of-the-tree Lexicon PCM91 reverb, the original TL Audio C1 stereo valve compressor, BSS DPR-402 compressors, AKG C414 microphones, a bunch of Shure SM57s, only-the-best Beyer Dynamic DT150 headphones ... plus many other mic's and outboard.
Along with many instruments; including Steck baby-grand and Steinbach upright pianos [maintained by Tim Fellowes of Kent Piano Services], Hammond M102 organ, Eminent Solina organ, tambourine, congas, vintage Premier and rock Tama drum kits, Fender Precision bass, Korg 'Triton' and 'microKorg' keyboards, Marshall JCM800 and Fender Hot Rod Deluxe guitar amps, Trace Elliot bass amp and a vintage Leslie Cabinet.
As well as, Cakewalk Sonar 7 Producer, Ableton Live 7 Suite and Propellerheads Reason 4 music production and manipulation software.
